2015 Color of the Year: Marsala

I am so excited that today Sephora + Pantone announced the 2015 Official Pantone Color of the Year, #Marsala! Working on this project, while was a lot of work, in the end turned out to be a fun and challenging project. I can't wait to see the beautiful windows for Sephora dressed with this new gorgeous color and most of all I can't wait to get my hands on the products to try out! This is Sephora's fourth year in collaborating with Pantone for Color of the year and this color by far is my most favorite out of all of the colors compared to years past. Who still remembers Tangerine Tango? Definitely not the most wearable color in makeup or fashion, or anything really but that's a whole different talk altogether. I'm in love with Marsala and that's all that matters :)

In case you are wondering who or what Pantone is and why it is even relevant, here is the short and sweet version...Pantone is the "worldwide renowned authority of color" and has been very influential in impacting several industries from fashion, beauty, home design, and more. Every year since 2000, Pantone has released an official color of the year and every year, the color of the year is supposed to help set the trend for that year. So far going into 2015, Marsala seems to be right on trend with fashion and beauty. Check out Yahoo's exclusive coverage on the new color: Marsala is 2015's Official Pantone Color of the Year

Below are some of my favorite looks from the collection as well as my favorites from the Sephora + Pantone Product Collection.

Beauty: Too Faced Melted Lipstick

During one of the shoots for Sephora's Hot Now videos, I was asked to be the model for the Too Faced Melted Lipsticks and it was then I discovered an instant obsession with this product. I never really was a lipstick wearing gal because I thought it would make me look "older". lol! Now, I love lipsticks and don't feel complete if I am not wearing it, at least in pictures. I feel naked when I have a full face of makeup on and a clear lip gloss on for photos. Do not get me wrong, I still love lip glosses but if I'm going out or "glamming" it up, I am all about lipstick.  What I love about the Too Faced Melted lipstick is that it is literally a "melted" lipstick in a tube. It glides on perfectly onto your lips and the applicator makes it easy to apply and line your lips precisely. I highly recommend that before any lipstick application that you moisturize those lips! Since it is winter, my lips personally tend to get chapped easily (don't judge lol) so I use the Fresh Sugar Advanced Therapy Lip Balm to moisturize my lips. Apply a little of this and you are good to go!

In the pictures below, I am wearing the melted fig color which is described by Sephora's website as a "rosy orchid" color. I love this color for daytime and while it might look a little bright on me in the pictures, it is a subtle color in person. This color suits any complexion..I know because I've had about all of my friends try it out and they have fallen in love with the color just like I did :)

Have a good night my loves!

Beauty: I need a Mask!

The day after Thanksgiving and probably like everyone else, I still feel fat and full from all of that food from the night before and definitely in need of a mask to help my skin recover from all the alcohol. That's always the thing about the holidays...you eat, you drink, and then repeat and sometimes we indulge a little bit too much on both. No bueno! To help my skin recuperate and bounce back, I love using the Sephora Collection Rose Face Mask.

This is a cloth mask and it is infused with natural rose extracts to help brighten and moisturize your skin. I love the instant results from this mask. Plump and bright skin instantly? Sign me up! These are very inexpensive at $6 a pop and I love stocking up on these because they are a rescue treatment after a long night out or even great after a long flight and having all of the moisture sucked out of your skin. There are other types of mask in this line but the Rose Face Mask is my favorite.

Have a good night loves!

About Me

Welcome! I'm Marie and I am currently a Production Manager at Sephora. I graduated from UC Berkeley with a Bachelor's in Political Science and didn't quite follow that path of becoming a lawyer like I thought I would. Who would have thought that I would end up in the cosmetics industry instead? I guess sometimes life has a different plan altogether then you plan but I can't say that I am un-happy with where I am at :)

For those of you wondering what my ethnic background is, I am Tongan and proud of it! I am a first generation here in the US. My parents are from the beautiful island of Tonga. Tonga is a Polynesian soverign state in the Pacific Islands...google it, you will be amazed by the beautiful landscape, I promise.

I love all things beauty, health and fitness! I started this blog because my beautiful aunt asked me to start a blog on all of the products that I use and here I am writing about products that I love and to also talk about health and fitness.

How I became a beauty fanatic:

I've always loved makeup but being from a strict Polynesian background, I was not allowed to wear makeup till college. It was not till 8 years ago after graduating from college I was jobless and after a fight with a now ex-boyfriend, I decided to "treat" myself to a shopping spree at my local Sephora. That same day, I was recruited by the assistant manager, and that was that was the beginning of my obsession with beauty products!

How I became a fitness junkie:

It was around November 2012, I was 28 and completely overweight, weighing in at about 225lbs. I knew at that point that by my 30th birthday that I wanted to get back to my "high school weight". From that point on I began my journey of the "fit-life" and am still continuing on it.

I hope that you enjoy reading my blog!
